Terms of Service

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Welcome to Zam!

By using Zam!, you agree to these terms. We've kept this straightforward because your budgeting time is valuable.

Simple rule: Use this app responsibly. It's a tool to help you track your money, not a financial advisor.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for the data you enter into Zam! Please ensure that:

  • You have the right to enter this financial information
  • The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • You don't use this app for illegal activities or fraud

The no-account demo uses sample data only for a temporary 5-minute session. If you keep using Zam! without signing in, your budget is stored only in this browser. Clearing browser data, clearing site data, using privacy-cleanup tools, or losing access to this device can permanently remove browser-only data. Zam! cannot provide recovery support for browser-only budgets after local browser/device storage is lost. Signing in uses Cloud Sync as the default encrypted backup path.

We're not liable for any financial decisions you make based on the data in this app.

No Financial Advice

Zam! is a tracking tool only. We do not provide:

  • Financial advice or investment recommendations
  • Tax guidance or accounting services
  • Guarantees about your financial future

Always consult a qualified professional for serious financial decisions.

App Availability

We strive to keep Zam! working, but we can't guarantee:

  • 100% uptime or zero bugs
  • That your data will never be lost (always backup important info!)
  • Compatibility with every browser or device forever

Zam! is in beta. We may update, pause, remove, or discontinue features if they are not stable, secure, sustainable, or useful enough to support.

Beta and Paid Support

Core budgeting is free. Zam! Premium is intended to help fund sync, shared budgeting, reports, planning tools, support, continued development, infrastructure, billing, and Cloud Sync reliability. The current Premium plan is $3.99 per month. Paying for Premium does not make Zam! a financial advisor and does not guarantee that every planned feature will be built.

  • Premium features may change during beta as reliability and user demand become clearer
  • Billing is processed through Stripe; Zam! does not store full card numbers
  • If the product does not prove useful enough to sustain itself, development may slow, pause, or stop
  • Core data safety, export, and recovery paths will remain the priority while beta testing continues

Data Ownership

You own all the data you enter. If you sign in, Cloud Sync protects your budget by default with an encrypted cloud vault that Zam! cannot decrypt without your recovery key. The no-account demo uses sample data only for a temporary 5-minute session. If you keep using Zam! without signing in, your budget remains browser-only.

  • Browser-only data can be removed by clearing browser or site data, and Zam! cannot recover it after local storage is lost
  • Cloud Sync data is encrypted on your device before upload and remains unreadable to Zam!
  • A trusted browser may store a non-extractable WebCrypto key in IndexedDB so Cloud Sync can keep syncing after refresh. This local browser key is not uploaded to Zam!, is not part of Account > Devices records, cannot be displayed as the recovery-key text, and is not a substitute for saving your recovery key
  • Free Tier Cloud Sync capacity is managed with privacy-minimal active browser leases. Account > Devices may link a known browser access record to an existing opaque sync slot hash so you can see and release unmatched slots. If a browser does not check in for 60 minutes, the slot can be released automatically. This link is not a new device identifier and does not include device names, user agents, IP-derived locations, readable budget data, or recovery keys
  • You're responsible for saving your recovery key and exporting backups if you want additional recoverability

If you use the gift-card tracker, you are responsible for the card numbers, codes, balances, and expiration dates you enter, and for keeping your device and Cloud Sync recovery key secure. Zam! tracks gift-card balances for your budget records only. It does not verify card value, redeem gift cards, process gift-card payments, prevent issuer fees or expiration, or replace the terms set by the gift-card issuer.

Gift-card merchant autofill hints use a local metadata cache when available. Merchant metadata may be incomplete or outdated and is not a guarantee of card validity, balance, redemption terms, or legal treatment. Zam! does not provide a merchant lookup service that verifies individual gift cards.

You may delete your Zam! account from Account > Settings. Account deletion removes the account's Supabase auth identity, encrypted Cloud Sync vault, encrypted version-history snapshots, browser access records, and inactive billing profile records. Zam! does not currently store household or family memberships.

Account deletion requires a fresh login verification and is blocked while a Stripe subscription is active or past due. Cancel Premium through Stripe Billing Portal first, then return to delete the Zam! account after billing status updates. Deleted Cloud Sync vaults, deleted snapshots, deleted account identities, and lost recovery keys cannot be recovered by Zam support. Provider logs and records may remain according to provider retention, legal, security, tax, dispute, fraud-prevention, or abuse-prevention requirements. This may include, without limitation, security or audit records, request metadata, IP addresses or proxy IP headers, approximate country or region metadata, user agent or browser/device hints, OAuth provider metadata, Proton or Supabase SMTP delivery metadata, and Stripe billing or payment records. Browser-only copies on other devices may remain only in those browsers until local site data is cleared.

Source Code and Public Materials

Zam! app source code, backend code, infrastructure configuration, sync architecture, and secrets-related configuration are private during beta. The public marketing and documentation repository may be licensed separately for transparency.

The Zam! public marketing and documentation repository is licensed under the MIT License when its repository or files say so. That license does not grant rights to Zam! app code, backend code, infrastructure code, private configuration, credentials, secrets, production systems, private documentation, or Zam! trademark and brand rights.

Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
